Dissolved air flotation plays an important role in wastewater treatment process, used to remove impurities from wastewater generated by various industries, including suspended solids, organic matter, and inorganic matter, so that the treated wastewater meets the requirements for reuse or discharge.
Dissolved air flotation is composed of DAF system and main tank body. DAF system includes dissolved air vessel, solenoid valve, safety valve, pressure gauge, air compressor, reflux pump and releaser. Main tank body includes chemical reaction area, contacting area, separation area, sludge discharge tank and clean water area.
Dissolved air flotation takes the treated effluent as circulating water and flows into the dissolved air vessel. At the same time, compressed air is added to the dissolved air vessel to mix them thoroughly. Then the dissolved air water is released to the contacting area and large number of micro-bubbles are generated via releasers, and the micro-bubbles quickly attach to the coagulated suspended solids, making their density lower than that of water, it automatically rises to the surface. The scum floating to the surface is scraped to the sludge discharge tank by skimmer scraper, and the clean water at the bottom flows into the clean water area.
Firstly, the sewage enters the chemical reaction zone, and PAC is added to coagulate the small particles in the sewage into larger ones. Then, PAM is added to coagulate into larger flocs.
Secondly, the DAF system extracts water and air into the dissolved air vessel through the reflux pump and the air compressor, and form dissolved air water through the jet injector inside the dissolved air vessel.
Next, a large number of micro-bubbles with a diameter of 20-45 μm are generated through the instantaneous pressure release of the releasers, which quickly attach to the flocculated suspended solids and make their density lower than that of water, and float to the surface.
Finally, the scum floating to the surface is scraped to the sludge discharge tank by skimmer scraper, and the clean water at the bottom flows into the clean water area through the outlet device.
One of the most important functions of wastewater treatment process is to remove floatable solids. Floatable solids are an important water quality indicator.
Floatable solids refer to substances that are insoluble in water but can float, typically including suspended solids, organic matter, and inorganic matter. These floating solid substances deteriorate water quality, cannot be reused, and cannot meet the discharge requirements of enterprises. In addition to removing floating solids from wastewater, the wastewater treatment process can also remove organic, inorganic, and pathogenic substances from wastewater, which can cause the water to turn black and odorous, affecting water quality. Organic matter includes oxygen consuming organic matter, recalcitrant organic matter, organic nitrogen, and ammonia nitrogen. Inorganic substances include heavy metal ions, waste acids, and waste alkalis; Pathogens include bacteria, viruses, and parasitic eggs. The wastewater treatment process can effectively remove these substances from wastewater. The wastewater treatment process can significantly improve water quality by removing floating solids, biological and chemical substances. After the wastewater treatment process, the water can be purified to reduce pollution and achieve wastewater recycling and reuse.
